Introduction
This was the second chingu.io project with a team of two members working remotely. We used a Node and Mongoose back end and React on the front end.
Purpose and Goals
As this was a student project, the main purpose was to implement our programming skills, whilst working together, following the project plan like an agile team. We aimed for simplicity to ensure we could build a solid product within the 6 week timeframe.
Spotlight
Although the UI is pretty simple, I wanted to add a splash of fun so chose to have background pictures that was relative to the season of the date selected. I feel this was a fairly simple implementation that made good improvement to the look and feel of the app.
Lessons Learned
The previous group project I had worked on had not resulted in a product we were happy with, so it was great to learn from that and pick a project with a scope that could be completed within the required timescale. I learned a lot about analysing complexity, what are essentials and what are nice-to-have’s and being decisive about the important tasks for each sprint.
